Physical Education

Officer Primary School provides opportunities for students to be involved in a wide range of sporting activities through Physical Education lessons and extra-curricular activities. The aim of Physical Education is to support a fun and inclusive learning environment that builds knowledge and skills to encourage a lifelong physically healthy lifestyle.

At the beginning of their P.E journey at Officer Primary School, students in Prep – Grade 2 will focus on their Fundamental Movement Skills and Fundamental Motor Skills in a variety of fun and engaging games. In lessons, students will explore developing their skills independently, with a partner and in small group settings. This helps to progress physical skills but also social skills such as communicating positively, sharing equipment and enjoying active play with others.

In Grade 3 – 6, students are building on the skills they have developed in their junior years and are introduced to game sense tactics and strategies. Students will acquire the ability to problem solve, display teamwork and self-umpire games. These skills are also extended to our Interschool Sport round robin and Lightning Premiership day where we play against schools within the area in both Summer and Winter seasons. We are focused on finding ways to be active within the community and utilise local facilities such as Officer Recreation Reserve for our home games and training sessions.

We pride ourselves on conducting a whole school swimming program and sporting events such as Cross Country and Athletics. Within our sporting events, students are competing in their colour house groups Hicks, McMullen, Lecky and Starling. This also provides opportunities for our senior students to represent the school and the Officer District at higher levels of competition.

Our school is also involved in extra-curricular activities such as Hoop time, T20 Cricket blast, Colour Run and we encourage local clubs to facilitate clinics so that our students are exposed to a range of sporting codes.
